A forklift is a tool/vehicle that uses forks or clamps mounted on a mast to lift, lower and move heavy objects from one place to another, The lifting system is a combination of two vertical rails as guides called masts, forks (or other lifting media) moving up/down on the mast and the hydraulic system that moves it. The mast is connected to the forklift body by a hydraulic cylinder that can move the mast forward or backward and up and down. The construction of a forklift has many similarities to a car: a driving force (with engine, clutch, transmission and axle), front and rear axles, brakes and chassis. While in a battery forklift the driving force is in the form of a battery, controller and electric motor. Generally the front wheels are the driving wheels, while the rear wheels are the steering.

It looks simple, but in using a forklift there are many things that customers must consider in determining the specifications and type of forklift they will use, some things to consider include:

1. Location of use, meaning that the forklift will operate indoors, outdoors, cool storage may also be indoors and outdoors simultaneously. Including the type of floor where the forklift will operate (determining the type of tire to be used).
2. The weight of the load to be lifted, this will determine the tonnage of the forklift to be used.
3. Load Center of the load / material to be lifted, it should be understood that a certain tonnage forklift is able to lift a load according to its capacity with material dimensions of 1 meter long, 1 meter wide and 1 meter high, if the material dimensions are different, special calculations are needed to determine the capacity of the forklift to be used.
4. The need for racking or stacking material height, this is used as a means of determining the type of mast on the forklift, besides that information is needed whether the forklift enters the container and whether there are door obstacles or H beams that hinder the movement of the forklift.
5. Operational Time, forklift operating hours, especially for electric forklifts, this is an influence because the maximum battery operation is estimated at 6-7 working hours, with a charging process of 6-7 hours so that if operating more than 1 shift a spare battery is needed.
6. Optional attachment, this information is used to add additional attachments to the forklift so that the use of the forklift is appropriate and efficient and effective.
7. Optional safety attachment, is additional information on safety regulation support devices according to customer regulation standards (bluespot lamp, redline, chime).

Forklift adalah suatu alat/kendaraan yang menggunakan garpu atau clamp dipasang pada mast untuk mengangkat, menurunkan dan memindahkan suatu benda berat dari satu tempat ke tempat lain, Sistim pengangkat adalah gabungan dari dua batang rail vertical sebagai penuntun disebut dengan mast, garpu (atau media pengangkat yang lain) bergerak naik/turun pada mast dan sistim hidrolik yang menggerakkannya. Mast dihubungkan ke badan forklift oleh hidrolik silinder yang mampu menggerakkan mast ke depan atau kebelakang serta naik dan turun. Kontruksi forklift mempunyai banyak kesamaan dengan  mobil : sebuah tenaga penggerak (dengan mesin, kopling, transmisi dan gardan), axle depan dan belakang, rem dan chassis. Sedangkan pada forklift battery tenaga penggerak berupa battery, controller dan motor listrik. Umumnya roda depan sebagai roda penggerak, sedangkan roda belakang sebagai kemudi.

Terlihat sederhana, namun dalam pemakaian forklift banyak hal yang harus menjadi pertimbangan customer dalam menentukan spesifikasi dan type dari forklift yang akan mereka pergunakan, beberapa hal yang perlu di perhatikan diantaranya :

1. Lokasi pemakaian, artinya forklift tersebut akan beroperasi indoor, outdoor,cool storage mungkin juga bisa indoor dan outdoor secara bersamaan. Termasuk dengan type lantai tempat forklift akan beroperasi (menentukan type ban yang akan dipergunakan).
2. Berat beban yang akan diangkat, hal ini akan menentukan tonase forklift yang akan di gunakan.
3. Load Centre dari beban /material yang akan diangkat, perlu dipahami bahwasanya forklift tonase tertentu mampu mengangkat beban sesuai kapasitasnya dengan dimensi material pajang 1 meter, lebar 1 meter dan tinggi 1 meter, jika dimensi material berbeda maka perlu perhitungan khusus untuk menentukan kapasitas forklift yang akan dipergunakan.
4. Kebutuhan tinggi racking atau stacking material, hal ini digunakan sebagai sarana penentuan type mast pada forklift, disamping itu perlu informasi apakah forklift masuk ke container serta adakah halangan pintu atau H beam yang menghalangi pergerakan forklift.
5. Operasional Time, waktu jam operasional forklift, khususnya untuk forklift electric hal ini menjadi pengaruh karena oeprasional battery maksimal estimasi 6-7 Jam kerja, denga proses charging 6-7 Jam sehingga jika beroperasi lebih dari 1 shift diperlukan battery spare.
6. Optional attachement, informasi ini dipergunakan untuk menambahkan attachement tambahan pada forklift sehingga pemakaian forklift tepat guna dan effisien serta efektif.
7. Optional safety attachement, merupakan informasi tambahan perangkat pendukung regulasi safety sesuai standart regulasi customer ( bluespot lamp, redline, chime).

Pre-Operation check includes all parts of readiness that must be checked and ensured that everything is in standard condition and in accordance with what the forklift needs to operate. There are two stages in pre-operation inspection, namely before the unit is ON/engine running and after the unit is ON or engine running. Of course, both of these items have different inspection items. Pemeriksaan harian saat sebelum mengoperasikan forklift bertujuan untuk  menjaga forklift dalam kondisi kerja yang baik. Pre Operation check meliputi semua bagian kesiapan yang harus di check dan dipastikan semua dalam keadaan standart dan sesuai dengan apa yang di butuhkan oleh forklift untuk beroperasi. Ada dua tahapan dalam pre opration inspectiaon yaitu sebelum unit ON/engine running dan setelah unit ON atau engine running. Tentu saja kedua item bagian tersebut mempunya item pemeriksaan yang berbeda. Dan hal ini berlaku baik terhadap forklift diesel maupun forklift electric, karena pada prinsipnya setiap forklift wajib di lakukan pre operation check oleh operator. Hasil pengecheckan tersebut harus di dokumentasikan sebagai bahan acuan tindakan perbaikan dan document history pekerjaan operator.

FORKLIFT DIESEL PRE-OPERATION CHECK
